The NoodleTools sources page can be very helpful, but it can’t think like a human. Alas! You may still need to do some tweaking to get your Works Cited page into perfect MLA shape.
In general, as you glance down your works cited, each citation should begin with what is most logical – an author’s last name if there is one, or a title. If you’ve begun your Shakespeare entry with something other than Shakespeare’s last name, there’s a problem. Try to spot these errors and fix them.
Popular Errors – Watch out for these!
1. Capitalization and spelling errors. Are all titles and names capitalized properly?
2. Excess search info in URLs. MLA 7th edition says www.opensourceshakespeare.com is preferable to http://www.opensourceshakespeare.com/views/plays/play_view.php?WorkID =henry6p1&Act=1&Scene=1&Scope=scene&LineHighlight=45#45. Get rid of the excess search info in all your URLs.
3. My Interviews Aren’t Listed! Easy to fix. There’s an "Interview" choice in the citation choices on NoodleTools (under "Print or in-hand"). You don’t have to create notecards for your interviews, but they must appear in the appropriate place on your Works Cited page.
4. Duplicate citations: If exactly the same citation appears more than once on your Works Cited page, extras should be eliminated. If there are different entry titles (like "Quiet, noun" and "Quiet, verb," no problem – then it’s not exactly the same entry and there is a logical reason to have that source twice on your works cited page.
5. This doesn’t look right. Just ask me about it.
6. Are all the requirements listed on your Works Cited page? Here’s a checklist. Double check.
o Dictionary
o Thesaurus
o Literature
o Bible
o Myth
o Quotation
o Poem OR Song
o Newspaper/Magazine
o Movie OR TV Show
o Pop Culture
o Interview 1
o Interview 2
